Questions and answers

Here you'll find answers to what students most often wonder about. Can't find the answer? Get in touch, and I'll help you.

About the lessons

Are the lessons 1-to-1 or in a group?

All lessons are 1-to-1 on Zoom. The whole lesson is about you and what you need to practise.

How much do the lessons cost?

You'll find the price of each lesson under Norwegian lessons. Buying a package gives you 7% off. The Beginner and Intermediate courses are sold as packages only.

I'm a beginner. Which lesson should I book?

Start with the Beginner course (A0–A2). We focus on communication and vocabulary, and you decide whether we use a textbook. If you're unsure, you can book a trial lesson of 30 minutes, and we'll work it out together.

I need to pass Norskprøven. Can you help me?

Yes! "Prepare for the Norskprøven test" is structured preparation focused on what you need help with. We practise answering relevant questions and describing pictures, work on listening comprehension, and you get tips on what to work on before the test.

Do I get homework?

You get homework after every lesson, except in Conversation and Cartoons, but you do what you have time for.

I only speak a little English. Is that a problem?

Not at all! I avoid English as much as possible, so simple, everyday English is enough. I use Norwegian as much as possible, even with beginners, and my beginner material is very visual, with lots of illustrations and repetition. Written explanations can be translated into your language. I understand Russian, Spanish and German, so you are welcome to use these languages.

Booking and practical information

How do I book?

Go to Norwegian lessons and press BOOK on the lesson you want, or BUY PACKAGE for 10 lessons. Choose a day and time, fill in your details and pay by card. You'll receive a confirmation with the Zoom link by email. Lessons must be booked at least 18 hours in advance.

Do you have lessons in the evenings or at weekends?

Yes. You'll usually find free times on weekdays 17:00–20:30 (except Wednesdays), Saturdays 11:00–16:00 and Sundays 16:00–19:00, Norwegian time. The times vary a little from week to week. Can't find a time that suits you? Get in touch, and I'll see if I can help.

Are the times in the calendar in my timezone?

Yes, the times are shown in your timezone.

I can't come, or I need to change the time. What do I do?

Log in to My page to change or cancel the lesson. This must be done at least 18 hours before the lesson starts. If there are less than 18 hours left and you can't attend, contact me by email: anita@supernorsk.no. Lessons cancelled less than 18 hours in advance are not refunded.

Do I need to download Zoom?

No. You'll receive a Zoom link by email when you've booked, and you can open the lesson directly in your browser. The Zoom app can give slightly more stable sound and video, but it isn't necessary.

Can I take lessons on my mobile phone?

Using a mobile phone in lessons isn't recommended, but it can work fine in conversation lessons. On a phone it's hard to see both the material and the video call properly. A computer is best.

Progress

I can only take lessons now and then. Is that okay?

Absolutely! It's completely up to you. You can book single lessons whenever it suits you.

How often do you recommend I take lessons?

Regularity is important, especially at the start. It's usually better to learn a little and often, with shorter lessons regularly, than long sessions far apart.

How many lessons do I need to reach a certain level?

It's very individual and depends a lot on how much you do outside the lessons. My lessons focus on natural communication and vocabulary, and we use the language actively as much as possible. That's why my students often find that they progress quickly.
